127 books given to students to support reading

over $400 in books donated to classrooms

$321 raised for the library
13 awesome volunteers that made it happen
22 hours of volunteer time

OPB filmed in the library at James John today, as part of Oregon Artbeat's piece  on author Beverly Cleary.  The film will likely air in April, in honor of Beverly Cleary's 100th Birthday.

How?  Write an original mythology story that explains how something came to be.  Must be less that 2 pages.  Turn it in to Ms. Rolfe by November 18th. 


Has a book changed the way you think about yourself or the world?
Write a letter to the author describing how you changed, and you could win a prize!
In Oregon winners receive $100 and advance to the national competition;
runners-up receive $50; honorable mentions receive$25 bookstore gift card, and semi-finalists receive $10 gift card. Turn into Ms. Rolfe to be mailed December 1st  or January 8th.

The Big, Bad, Book Giveaway

June 9th

Classes will come and each child will select 5-6 books to take home for the summer.   They are theirs to keep!

Thanks for a great book fair!

We gave away 119 books to students.
PTA bought books for each classroom and the library and we had enough in profits to purchase $390 of books for classrooms and $242 in books for the library.
What a great school we have!

4th grade ranked the mushers.  We used their experience with dogs, their experience with the Iditarod and their experience with other races to decide how they would finish.  Their predictions are:
